A Blueprint for Aloha: Leading the Way Home

After purchasing 20 acres of Wai‘anae Valley land in March, we began designing and planning for the future village of Pu‘uhonua O Wai‘anae (Ma Uka). POW community leaders and members have played a leading role in this work.

We’ve continued to refine the original site plan by convening several design-planning and visioning sessions with the village leadership. In May, village leaders visited the land and suggested where to locate community buildings and other village features. Their ideas inform the final site plan, which will then provide the ‘blueprint’ for permit applications and eventual construction.

We’re also developing an agriculture plan for the village to produce food on the land for the village and the surrounding community.

Mahalo nui loa to architect Natalie Snyder-Pond, planner Kawika McKeague, and civil engineers Paul Matsuda and Kai Akiona-Ferriman for volunteering their time and expertise. Importantly, none of this would have been possible without the clear leadership from Twinkle Borge and the other village leaders, as well as the support and donations from hundreds of friends and supporters.
